Feasibility Study for the Upgrading of the Operating Theatre at the Gozo General Hospital
This project employed a range of approaches to quantify the direct and indirect impact that can be derived from the upgrading of the operating theatre department at the Gozo General Hospital.

The objective of the study was to evaluate and quantify the financial and economic impact that can be derived from the upgrading of the operating theatre department at Gozo General Hospital and to analyse whether such an investment is feasible, particularly on socio-economic grounds.

The results of the study highlighted the significance of such an investment. The study also illustrated and compared the benefits and costs arising from the project. The benefits and costs were not only analysed from a financial perspective, but the wider economic benefits for the Gozitan society were also taken into account.

The investment cost of this project is expected to be co-financed by the Cohesion Fund (2007-2013). The EU co-financing rate is expected to amount to 85% of the total investment. To this end, this study was carried out in accordance with the General Guidelines for Cost-Benefit Analysis for Investment Projects, prepared by the Evaluation Unit, DG Regional Policy of the European Commission.
