The paper also examined in some detail Malta’s international competitiveness position, and compared the various strengths and weaknesses of the economy with those of other EU Member States. Recommendations aimed at boosting competitiveness and at alleviating the economic growth rate were also made. The paper also gave a brief overview of Malta’s economic performance in light of the various international developments and an analysis on Malta’s international competitiveness, which was largely based on the results of The Global Competitiveness Report for 2006-2007 of the World Economic Forum.
